Welcome

The Swire Charitable Trust is an independent UK grant making trust. Since 1975 we have been supporting charities that share our commitment to delivering positive and lasting change to UK society. We receive our funding from John Swire & Sons Ltd, the parent company of the Swire Group.

The Swire Charitable Trust’s core programmes –  Opportunity, Environment and Heritage – are open to applications on a rolling basis, with no deadlines. We prioritise UK charities that are well positioned to meet current challenges, and aim to direct our grants to where they are needed most.

In 2023, we awarded £5m in grants to more than 220 charities.

We understand that many of you will be still be adapting the way you work, and this may make it difficult for you to deliver as planned or meet the projected outcomes of your grant. Please do keep us updated, we are happy to consider requests for the repurposing of our grants, but please could you seek our approval before doing this.
