Heritage of London Trust
Heritage of London Trust (HOLT) is a small, growing charity dedicated to restoring the historic buildings and monuments which give London its character and charm. These sites must be of historic or architectural interest and their restoration must have public benefit.
HOLT gives grants to local community organisations, provides conservation advice and helps kick-start local fundraising campaigns. It seeks out buildings at especial risk of deterioration, often in deprived areas with little investment and where the risk of loss is greatest. They also run public events and visits which help generate interest in heritage restoration and community regeneration.
Since its foundation, the HOLT has helped restore over 600 sites in London and efforts are made to identify projects which have the maximum benefit in terms of community regeneration.
In January 2018, the Swire Charitable Trust awarded the Heritage of London Trust a 3 year unrestricted grant of £20,000 per year. This core funding will help HOLT to research and identify suitable restoration projects, support its engagement with local communities and assist in the charity’s overall development.
