Centrepoint

Independent Living Programme

Centrepoint is one of the UK’s leading youth homelessness charities, supporting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness with accommodation, health services, and access to education, training, and employment.

Every year, more than 118,000 young people in the UK face homelessness. Many are working hard and are ready to live independently, but the lack of affordable housing makes this almost impossible. Social housing is scarce, private rents are out of reach for minimum-wage earners, and only one in five landlords will rent to someone leaving supported accommodation. Without intervention, young people risk being trapped in supported housing or falling back into homelessness.

Centrepoint’s Independent Living Programme is a pioneering solution to this crisis. It provides high-quality, genuinely affordable studio homes for working 18 to 25 year olds. With rent capped at one-third of income and secure two to five year tenancies, the programme offers stability, the chance to save, career progression, and a pathway to fully independent adulthood.

This grant will support Centrepoint to expand Independent Living in London by creating new homes and giving more young people the security, opportunity, and brighter future they deserve.
